IV Therapy & Hydration Restoration in Portland, OR

Hydration · Vitamin infusions · NAD+

You drink water all day. You take the vitamins. And by mid-afternoon you're still foggy, drained, and reaching for a third coffee that never quite works. You may be running into the limits of what your digestive system can actually absorb.

IV therapy takes the direct route: fluids, electrolytes, and vitamins delivered straight into your bloodstream, bypassing the gut's absorption limits entirely. It's one of the fastest-growing wellness services in the country — and much of it happens in drip lounges running on volume, not medicine.

Ours doesn't. Every infusion at Oregon Medical & Laser starts with a medical screening reviewed under physician oversight, is compounded and dosed clinically, and is administered by trained clinical staff in our Northwest Portland clinic. Here's what IV therapy actually is, what it can and can't do, and how to choose the right drip for your goals.

What IV therapy is — and what it isn't

IV therapy — also called IV drip therapy or IV vitamin therapy — is the intravenous delivery of a sterile solution of fluids, electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals. A licensed clinician places a small catheter in a vein, and the infusion runs while you relax in a treatment chair, typically 30 to 60 minutes.

The core idea is absorption. A swallowed vitamin has to survive stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and intestinal uptake before any of it reaches your bloodstream — and for some nutrients, only a fraction makes it through. An infusion enters circulation directly, reaching levels oral dosing can't practically match.

An honest frame from the start: IV therapy is not a replacement for a healthy diet, sleep, or medical treatment. It's a tool — most useful when your body needs rapid rehydration, when oral absorption is compromised, or when you're targeting nutrient support that capsules can't deliver.

Why physician-led matters here

Drip bars have popped up everywhere, and quality varies enormously. IV therapy is a medical procedure, and we treat it like one:

  • Screening first. Your health history, medications, and kidney function are reviewed under physician oversight before we ever hang a bag.
  • Clinical compounding. Formulations are compounded and dosed to you, not poured from a generic menu.
  • Honest triage. If IV therapy isn't the right tool for what you're experiencing, we'll tell you — and point you toward what is.

The drip menu

We built the launch menu around the goals patients actually come in with — hydration, energy, immunity, recovery, and healthy aging.

Vitamin B12 and glutathione IV drip at Oregon Medical & Laser in Portland

The Foundation — IV hydration

Our essential rehydration drip: a balanced electrolyte solution that restores fluid volume fast, with up to a liter of fluids. After travel, illness, hard training, or summer heat — and the right starting point if you're new to IV therapy.

The Original — Myers' Cocktail

The most established formula in IV medicine: magnesium, calcium, B-complex vitamins, and vitamin C. Our most versatile drip for overall wellness, energy, and immune support.

The Shield — immune support

Built around high-dose vitamin C with zinc and B vitamins — for cold and flu season, pre-travel preparation, or any stretch when your immune system needs backup.

The Ignition — energy & B12

A B-complex and B12-forward infusion for fatigue, brain fog, and low-energy stretches — the drip patients describe as the reset button.

The Apex — NAD+ therapy

Our flagship longevity infusion. NAD+ is a coenzyme central to cellular energy and DNA repair, and its levels decline with age. A longer, slower infusion delivered under clinical supervision.

The Luminous — beauty & glow

Glutathione — the body's master antioxidant — with vitamin C and biotin, supporting skin clarity, hair, and nails from the inside. Pairs naturally with the aesthetic treatments our patients already book.

Recovery & Performance

Amino acids, electrolytes, and B vitamins for athletes and active Portlanders — pre-race preparation, post-training recovery, and support through heavy training blocks.

GLP-1 Support

On a supervised weight program with semaglutide or tirzepatide? Hydration and nausea are real challenges during dose titration. Fluids, electrolytes, and B vitamins keep you comfortable and consistent.

Every drip on this menu starts with the same medical screening — and the GLP-1 Support drip is built to slot directly into our physician-led weight program. Medical weight management →

Launch pricing

Transparent pricing is house policy, so here it is plainly: to introduce the new service line, your first Foundation hydration drip is $75 — regularly $199 — and includes up to one liter of fluids.

Specialty drips are priced by formulation, because clinical compounding means your bag isn't identical to the next patient's. You'll see current pricing for every drip on our booking site before you commit to anything, and if you're planning a regular cadence, ask about series pricing at your visit.

Add a drip to a visit you've already booked

An infusion doesn't need its own slot in your calendar. Most drips run 30 to 60 minutes — about the length of a facial — so the easiest way to try one is to attach it to time you're already spending here:

  • With your facial. Add a drip alongside a DiamondGlow or dermaplaning session — skin work on the outside, hydration on the inside, one visit.
  • Around your tox appointment. Wrinkle-relaxer visits are quick; settle in for a drip after your injections and leave with both boxes checked.
  • After a laser session. Rehydrating on a treatment day is a comfortable way to round out the visit.
  • With a friend. Side-by-side chairs, two drips, and an hour that counts as self-care for both of you.

Mention it when you book — or just ask at the front desk while you're in. If the schedule allows it, we'll make it work the same day.

Who IV therapy is for — and who it isn't

Most healthy adults tolerate IV nutrient therapy well, and screening exists to keep it that way. Conditions that change how your body handles fluids and specific nutrients — kidney disease, heart failure, certain cardiac and medication situations — mean dosing needs adjustment, or that IV therapy isn't the right tool at all. That's precisely what your pre-infusion review is for, and it's why we ask for your medication list.

And a plain-language boundary: a drip is not a treatment for acute illness or an emergency, and it doesn't replace primary care. If what you're experiencing needs a doctor rather than a drip, we'll say so.

What to expect

  1. Before

    • A brief health screening — history, medications, and anything that affects fluid or nutrient dosing — reviewed under physician oversight.
    • Your formulation is confirmed and prepared for your goals.
    • Hydrate normally and eat something beforehand — it makes placement easier.
  2. During

    • A licensed clinician places a small catheter — a quick pinch, similar to a blood draw.
    • Your infusion runs 30–60 minutes (NAD+ runs longer) while you read, work, or rest in a treatment chair.
  3. After

    • No downtime — return to your day immediately.
    • Hydration effects are often immediate; energy and wellness effects typically show within hours to a day.
    • Minor effects like a cool sensation or a small bruise at the site resolve quickly.

Common questions

How long does an IV drip take?
Most infusions take 30–60 minutes from placement to finish. NAD+ is deliberately infused more slowly and can take 90 minutes or longer — plan accordingly.
Does IV therapy hurt?
You'll feel a quick pinch during catheter placement, similar to a blood draw. After that, most patients feel little beyond a slight coolness — many read or work through the infusion.
How quickly will I feel results?
Hydration effects are often immediate. Energy and wellness effects are typically noticed within hours to a day, depending on the formulation and where you started.
Can I get IV therapy if I'm on medication?
In most cases, yes — but this is exactly why we screen. Bring your medication list to your first visit and our clinical team reviews it before your infusion.
How often should I get IV therapy?
It depends on the goal. Some patients come occasionally — before travel, after illness, ahead of a demanding week. Others settle into a monthly rhythm or a mapped series. We'll recommend a cadence at your first visit, and we won't sell you a package you don't need.
Do you take walk-ins?
Book ahead when you can, so your screening is done and your formulation is ready. That said, we accommodate same-day drips whenever the schedule allows — including adding one to an appointment you already have.
How much does IV therapy cost in Portland?
Our launch offer prices your first Foundation hydration drip at $75 (regularly $199), including up to a liter of fluids. Specialty drips are priced by formulation, with current pricing on our booking site — no surprises in the chair.
